Advanced Technical Training was formed to help fill a void in the HVAC industry.  To provide technicians with real world instruction.  To give them information that will truly make them better mechanics by helping them understand the "why" behind the things we do.  The company was founded by me - Darryl Lamaestra.  As a graduate of 35 years in the field, starting as a lackey for my Dad, working my way through a number of contractors as a sheet metal shop foreman, installer, lead installer service technician, and lead service technician; I've seen quite a bit of this field.  I've installed Mrs. Jones window unit, installed and serviced too many roof top units to count.  I've serviced large centrifugal chillers, re-built a 2000 ton centrifugal and torn down numerous others.  I've worked on cascade systems, freeze-driers, axi-vane fans, pneumatic and DDC controls...I've seen quite a bit, alright.  Unfortunately for me, I took ill and was no longer able to accomplish the physical part of the job.  No problem, I'll find a position where I can train younger or less experienced mechanics than myself.  Unfortunately, that position doesn't exist in the real world.  Contractors want to pay you for production or"What have you done for me lately?", not "let me show you how to do that safely in half the time".  It ended-up being somewhat of a blessing.  I went back to school and learned Autocad and landed a job in an engineering office.  My field experience is a very valuable asset to the company, as it fills the disconnect so common between engineers and field mechanics.  There was still this nagging  in the back of my mind though.  A lot of my trouble-shooting expertise and knowledge was not needed in the engineering office, and I missed that.  Enter, "Advanced Technical Training".
